Akkineni Nageshwara Rao – the name is quite popular for any Telugu person. The legendary actor turns 86 today. It has been 69 years since he has been in the Telugu film industry, and he still manages to make his presence felt wherever he is.
The awards he’s earned for his acting are innumerable, and the positions he held for the development of Arts in Andhra Pradesh have been extremely important. While his acting has managed to entertain the audiences, he will be thanked by all Telugu film lovers for bringing Telugu film industry a unique identity. He was one of the first few people who helped relocate Telugu film industry from Chennai to Hyderabad, establishing Annapoorna Studios in Hyderabad. Today Telugu film industry not only has a unique base, but also has biggest presence in India after Hindi films.
His sons and grandsons have been playing key roles in taking Telugu Cinema forward, while the legendary actor himself leads a very peaceful retired life. Every year a Theater Festival is conducted on his name, which the actor himself oversees. He also sometimes acts in guest roles. He was recently seen in films like ‘Sri Ramadasu’ and ‘Chukkallo Chandrudu’.
It is being said that the actor is all set to act in a film, along with his son Nagarjuna and Sumanth in film that will be directed by Krishna Vamsi.
