The Congress leaders owing allegiance to Y S Jaganmohan Reddy in Guntur district have demanded that a murder case be filed against Rajya Sabha member V Hanumantha Rao for allegedly causing the death of a Congress worker.
Taking strong exception to Hanumantha Rao’s comments of “bogus deaths,” the Congress workers in Guntur district burnt his effigies and staged a dharna in front of the Guntur (rural) police station demanding that a case be registered against Hanumantha Rao under Section 302 of the IPC for being responsible for the death of a Congress worker P Subba Reddy (56). They alleged that Subba Reddy died of heart attack after watching the unsavoury comments made by the Congress MP in the television debate.
Though the police did not book any case against the Congress MP, the incident shows how serious the situation is in the state Congress. So, from murder threat to murder case, it is a troubled time for VHR!
