An ardent fan of Rambha went to her house in Saligramam on Friday night and insisted that she accept a gold ring from him on her birthday. The man was later identified as G Venkatesan (28), a resident of Virugambakkam, employed in a pharmacy.
Police said Venkatesan went to a leading jewellery shop on north Usman Road and bought a gold ring for Rs 8,000. He went to Rambha's house and told the security guard he wanted to meet her. The guard admitted her, believing he was a courier boy. Once inside the house, another security guard stopped him.
The guard asked him to hand over the parcel. However, Venkatesan refused and began shout, saying he would not leave the place without meeting Rambha. Other security guards and servants pushed him out of the house but he refused to leave the area.
Rambha's brother Vasu came out and tried to pacify Venkatesan. As he continued to create ruckus, Vasu informed the police, who picked up Venkatesan.
Venkatesan's father Ganesan, a BSNL employee, was informed about his son's misbehaviour. Police released him after getting an undertaking from him, as Rambha allegedly asked them to pardon him.
