The Telugu film industry has been rated as the second best to Bollywood and given the huge list of heroes and heroines and the budgets with which movies are made, it has surely set an example and role model among the regional film circuits. However, those days of glory seem to have taken a jolt as the past few years, the industry has been reeling with a continuous spate of flops. Statistics reveal that in an year, the success percentage of movies has been less than 20% and it is only a blockbuster or two that has been the saving grace of the circuit.
Though some offbeat movies with peanut budgets have scored success, the law of averages has shown that big budget flicks from big banners have been resulting in flops that have caused a drastic fall in the revenue. Now, the year 2009 has so far seen two big blockbusters in the form of ‘Arundhati’ and ‘Kick’ and both of them came during the first half. Now, expectations have been rising high on the movie ‘Magadheera’ which is slated for release this month and analysts say that openings have got high expectations from this film.
Though the audio has turned out to be weak, the aura of S S Rajamouli and the grandeur of his picturisation would turn out to be points to consider giving a momentum to the songs and this has been pushing the music lovers as well to listen to these numbers. The initial talk has come out quite positive and this could well be the golden point in Charan’s career though it is just his second film.
Right now, the family of Chiru has been facing brickbats due to the humiliating defeat in the elections and the severe allegations that producer Allu Aravind has faced along with the controversies. So they are hoping that ‘Magadheera’ will set things right and put them in positive light.
There has been an extensive usage of graphics in the film and this has been made at an ambitious budget deeming it to be the most expensive movie ever made in the history of Telugu cinema. It is always a good thing for the film folk to taste a hit and if it is a blockbuster, the analysts feel that it would motivate the younger brand of heroes to come up with more movies for the entertainment of the audience and also change the economics of the film circuit. All the best for this ‘Magadheera’!!!
