In an industry that is known to import actresses from Mumbai, Telugu girl Madhavi Latha comes as a welcome change. And that according to the young actor, is her USP. One of the few Telugu ammayis in Tollywood, Madhavi first shot to fame when director Ravibabu cast her opposite Tanish in Nachavule last year. Life’s been a ball ever since, Madhavi says. All set for her next project Senhituda opposite Nani, Madhavi has her fingers crossed. “It’s a family entertainer that focuses on the relationship between a girl and her father. We completed the shooting in 65 days and though it was a hectic schedule, it was great fun,” she says. A student of sociology, Madhavi admits she always dreamt of being an actor. “I was barely seven when I first said I want to make it big on the silver screen. At that time I didn’t even understand cinema, but I knew I wanted to be an actress. I grew up watching actors like Jayasudha and Aamani and I knew that’s what I wanted to do,” she says. coming from a non-filmy background, the journey was not an easy one. “Initially my parents were reluctant about me entering the film industry. But I managed to convince them. Now they are proud to spot me on hoardings,” she laughs. Madhavi began her career in showbiz as an anchor five years ago, but had her eyes set on big things. “What I really wanted to do was act in films so I took a break from anchoring. One day I got a call from Ravibabu. He had seen some of my photographs on a website and wanted to cast me in his next film opposite Tanish and from then there’s been no looking back,” Madhavi says. Offers are “pouring in,” she claims, but she’s biding her time. “I don’t want to do just about any role. My aim is to win the National Award, so I’m going to be selective about the kind of films I sign on,” she says. Now the pretty actress wants to act in films directed by biggies like Vishwanath or Krishna Vamsi. “That would be like a dream come true. it’s a privilege for any actor to be associated with such big names. Hopefully I’ll get there one day,” she signs off.
