Thieves struck it rich in the city on Friday, stealing nearly 22 tola gold and one kilo of silver articles in two separate incidents.
A film producer’s house at Film Nagar was burgled at Film Nagar. The film producer, Anuradha Devi, resides in a penthouse near Film Nagar Club.
Anuradha Devi’s son-in-law K M Paul on Friday lodged a complaint with the police stating that 22 tola gold was missing from the house. “There was no proof that an outsider entered the house and the doors and almirah was intact,” Banjara Hills detective sub-inspector Ravinder Reddy said.
Police said that it was an insider job. Meanwhile, thieves prised open the shutters of a pearls and jewellery shop at Malkajgiri and stole one kilo of silver articles. The theft took place in the Mahalakshmi Pearls and Jewellery located at Maruthi Nagar in Malkajgiri.
“The shutters were noticed to be intact till 5 am by a police patrol team. The patrolling van came back after half-an-hour and found the shutters open,” Malkajgiri detective sub-inspector Shivalingam said.
Police informed the matter to the shop owner, Krishna Murthy, who lodged a complaint stating that one kilo of silver articles were stolen from the shop.
