Australian government, which is under pressure to act on the racial attackers on Indians, has now started blaming Indians for this kind of situation.
Australian High Commissioner John McCathy, who was in Hyderabad on Wednesday said Indian students, who are planning to come to Australia for higher studies, should be given counselling on how to behave themselves in their country.
He said India students need to follow certain guidelines for their own safety and security. Like in any other country, Australia, too, has unsafe areas and unsafe hours. There were three different sets of guidelines for Indian students coming to Australia and they need to know dos and don’ts, if they want to study in Australia.
While ruling out that the attacks were racial, the Australian high commissioner said most of the incidents were only crime-related, done for the sake of money. The Federal and provincial governments of Australia were taking every care to prevent such incidents, he said and assured that the government would take all possible steps to build confidence levels in the Indian students.
