Even though the Congress high command was against it, former Chief Minister late YS Rajashekar Reddy’s son and Kadapa MP Mr YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, finally boarded the Falaknuma Express here on Wednesday to start his 10-day ‘Vodarpu Yatra’ from Itchapuram in Srikakulam district Thursday morning.
Mr Jagan, amid large fan fare, has come out from his house located at Sagar Society Residence, here at Banjara Hills, around 3.30 PM., after taking blessings from his mother the Pulivendula MLA Ms Vijayalaxmi. The fans who gathered at Jagan’s residence raised slogans of ‘YSR Congress Zindabad…YS Jagan Zindabad’. Within 20 minutes, he reached the Secunderabad Railway Station and boarded the Falaknuma Express.
Mr Jagan will reach Itchapuram, where late YS Rajashekar Reddy had concluded his ‘Maha Padayatra’ in 2003, on Thursday morning coinciding with the first birth anniversary of his father late YSR after his demise. He would start his 10-day ‘Vodarpu Yatra’ visiting YSR Park in Itchapuram.
On the other hand, the Chief Minister Mr K Rosaiah has clearly told to the ministers and MLAs, who approached him for an advice, not to participate in ‘Vodarpu Yatra’. He also said that Jagan Yatra was nothing but against the high command’s decision. The high command would look after Jagan’s issue. Local police would take care of the Jagan’s security. He further said that he was going to Delhi not to discuss on ‘Jagan’s Yatra’ but to discuss on official issues.
Senior leader Mr Palvai Govardhan Reddy and senior MLA Mr Shankar Rao have said that the ‘Yatra’ was against the interests of the Congress party and the decision of the high command. They said the high command would not tolerate Mr Jagan any more.
Besides this, rumors did the rounds that Mr Jagan would start his own political party named ‘YSR Congress’. One Mr Mohd Gouse, a Kadapa small time leader, has applied for the registration 15 days after YSR’s demise. The issue has come to light now for discussion and the rumor further said that the Election Commission has sought more information from the applicant. But Mr Jagan’s associates ruled out the rumor and said he will not leave the Congress party at any cost and at the same time he will not stop his yatra, come what may to his fate.
AMBATI FLAYS ROSAIAH
Jagan’s staunch supporter and PCC secretary Mr Ambati Rambabu flayed the Chief Minister for his warning to the MLAs and Ministers and said it was not proper for the Chief Minister. He said: “Rosaiah occupied the seat that remained vacant due to YSR’s demise. He should not forget that fact”.
On the other hand, MLAs Ms Konda Surekha and Ms Kavitha expressed their willingness to accompany Mr Jagan, but were not seen along with Jagan. MLA Kondru Murali clearly told the media that he would stay away from the ‘yatra’.
Chief Whip Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka has opined that the high command would not take any action against Mr Jagan. He also said that Mr ‘Jagan’s Yatra’ would not affect the party’s fate in the present by-elections.
One person named Sanjeeva Rayudu, belonging to Kalleluru village in Jammalamadugu mandal, Kadapa district, made a suicide attempt expecting ‘Jagan’s Yatra’ may not take place.
