The AICC president and the UPA chairperson, Sonia Gandhi, witnessed the protest and counter protest of the MPs belonging to the Andhra – Rayalaseema and Telangana.
The MPs continued to protest over the Telangana issue in the Parliament for the fourth consecutive day on Friday. Though the protest started in the beginning of the session, the members withdrew their agitation as the Speaker, Meira Kumar, assured them of an opportunity to speak in the Zero Hour.
During the Question Hour too, the MPs raised slogans and counter slogans over the Telangana issue.
However, the MPs continued their protests bringing the House to a standstill. Interestingly, for the first time, the UPA chairperson and AICC chief, Sonia Gandhi, was present in the House. She watched the MPs raising slogans and counter slogans over the issue.
Having watched the uproar, it is to be seen how Sonia Gandhi would react and resolve the issue.
