Anantapur,Dec 18:Tension prevailed in the town on Friday when the police arrested Telugu Desam MLA paritala sunitha, who was on fast opposing the bifurcation of the state.The TDP leaders staged a rasta roko and closed all shops and business houses when the police arrested TDP MLA Parita Sunita, Palle Raghunatha Reddy and Partha Sarathy,who were on fast supporting the United Andhra Pradesh and shifted them to the hospital.The relay fast of TDP leaders entered fifth day on Friday.
When a few members resisted the move of arrest,the police resorted to lathicharge.Following the arrest of paritala sunitha,the activists raised slogans against bifurcation of the state,set the Railway Kalyanamandapam afire in the town and torched a BSNL cable godown on Gutty Road.Meanwhile,the police on Friday lifted Section 144 of Cr PC imposed on the Sri Krishnadevaraya University campus in view of the peace conditions prevailing on the campus. District Collector Janardhana Reddy announced the lifting of Section 144 which was imposed in the wake of the agitation for united Andhra Pradesh turning violent
