The JAC leaders have called for a 48 hour long bandh in Krishna and Guntur districts in protest against the arrest of fasting TD MLA in Vijayawada.
The police have arrested the TD MLA Devineni Umamaheswara Rao, who was hiding in the Zilla Parishad guest house to prevent the police action. The police have raided the hunger strike camp in the mid-night previous day and arrested TD MLA Chinnam Ramakotaiah. Suspecting the repeat of the police action, the TD activists forced the MLA into the guest house and locked him inside.
However, the police cleared the TD activists guarding the guest house, broke open the locks and arrested the TD MLA.
The JAC leaders also protested against the arrest and called for the 48 hour long bandh. The shops and business establishments remained closed while the theaters in the two districts have canceled the day shows. The educational institutions too were closed as the activists took out rallies condemning the police action.
The APSRTC withdrew all services in the two districts. Even the other district services to Vijayawada and Guntur were stopped.
