Sakshi doubts on chopper crash

The Sakshi daily, owned by Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, expressed doubts over the helicopter crash at Pavurala Gutta in Nallamala forest on September 2, in which Chief Minister Dr Y S Rajasekhar Reddy and five others killed.

The daily, quoting from the investigating officers, raised a couple of questions on the flying area and height of the helicopter. The helicopter traveled 18 km away from the route and had come down by 1000 meters height before it crashed.

Shockingly, the air traffic center (ATC) at Chennai failed to respond to the signals from the helicopter. Though the Chennai and Bangalore ATCs were expected to monitor the movement of the helicopter in which the VVIP was traveling, the two ATCs washed off their hands.

The ATC at Hyderabad too failed to monitor the movement of the helicopter. However, it was a private operator from Bangalore who was waiting for clearance for his travel to Hyderabad noticed the VVIP helicopter going out of sight. He alerted Minister Galla Aruna, who in turn alerted then Finance Minister K Rosaiah.

Interestingly, the APCC general secretary, Ambati Rambabu, a votary of Y S Jaganmohan Reddy for the Chief Minister post, also expressed doubts over the crash. He wanted the investigating authorities to probe into the issue from all aspects and reveal the truth.

It is to be seen what the investigating authorities would find out.
