Vikram's "Mallanna" to go 3D in Hindi

Mallanna”, starring Tamil superstar Vikram and Shriya Saran that evoked mixed response at the box office last year will be remade in Hindi and that too in 3D. This is the first time a South Indian movie is being remade in Hindi and that too in 3D format. Sources say the movie's director Sushil Kumar is shifting his base from Chennai to Mumbai and is going to make this movie in 3D. Since the movie has a few superhero scenes, the makers think it will make for a perfect 3D movie if remade with a star from Bollywood. An international production house is likely to be roped in to produce this 3D movie.

When contacted, the director of the movie confirmed the news, "I am working on it and we will soon start shooting for it. The star cast is not finalized yet.Since it has a lot of action scenes, it becomes compatible for an entertaining 3D film format like 'Avatar'. Once it is done, we will release the movie in an year’s time,” Sushil said.

Sources say since most big stars in Hindi are busy and have already committed their dates to a few movies, its likely that lead roles will go to others. “Mallanna” released as “Kandasamy” in Tamil did well at the box office in Tamil Nadu but opened with weak collections in Andhra Pradesh
