57th National Film Awards : Magadheera Rocks!

New Delhi: The 57th National Film Awards has been announced at New Delhi today on Wednesday. The National Award has been presented to the best of Indian Cinema released during the year 2009.

Bollywood Actor Amitabh Bachchan wins the Best Actor Award for 'Paa'. It was Amitabh's third national award after 'Agneepath' in 1991 and 'Hum' in 2006. Arundhati Nag wins best supporting actress award for 'Paa'. The exceptional makeup in 'Paa' also bagged an honour.

Best Actress award goes to Ananya Chaterjee for Abohoman(Bengali).

Best Film award goes to Malyalam film 'Kutty Srank'. It also won Best Cinematography for Anjali Shukla.

Best Director Award went to Rituparno Ghosh for 'Abhomaan'.

The award for Best Music went to Anurag Kashyap's radical retelling of Devdas in 'Dev D'. The hit tunes were composed by Amit Trivedi, who bagged the Best Music Director Award.

Best Background Score Award to Ilayaraja for the film Pazhassi Raja (Malayalam)

Shyam Benegal's 'Well Done Abba' wins for social issues. 'Well Done Abba' is a 2010 political satire Hindi film. The film received favourable reviews from top critics in India.

Farooq Sheikh gets best supporting actor for 'Lahore'. Lahore with the backdrop of a violent sport, kickboxing, tries to depict a strong message of unity and sportsman spirit between two nations India and Pakistan. Lahore also won the Best Debut Director award for Sanjay Puran Singh.

'Delhi 6' wins for National Integration. The film did not do well at box office but its theme made it to win the National Award.

Best popular film, Best Director and Best producer goes to '3 idiots'. This is another feather in the Aamir Khan's cap. The film has been directed by Rajkumar Hirani and produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra. Upon release, the film broke all opening box office records in India. Swanand Kirkire also won the National award for Best Lyrics for 'behti hawa sa tha wo' from 3 Idiots.

Pasanga, directed by Pandiraj, won the award for Best Regional Feature film. And its two lead stars Kishore and Sri Ram won the award for Best Child Actors.

Tollywood

Magadheera which shattered all the previous records in Tollywood, has also bagged two prestigious awards at the National level. Kamal Kannan bagged the National Award in the Best Special Effects category and Dance Master Shivshankar won Best Choreographer award for the super hit song - Dheera Dheera
