Swathy of Subramaniapuram fame, has signed her second film as Vikram’s heroine, in Selvaraghavan’s new film. ‘Colors’ Swathy, as she is known in Telugu after hosting a television programme by that name, was in Chennai last week to sign the film and hold discussions with the director.
Selva is seen as a mentor of sorts for her as she played Trisha’s sister in his Telugu super hit Adavari Matalaku Ardhale Verule. The actress, who has been flooded with offers in Tamil after the runaway success of Subramaniapuram, is very choosy, but Selva’s script, in which she has a meaty role, convinced her to sign on the dotted line. When contacted, Swathy said that as per her contract with Selvaraghavan she could not talk about the role, but added that she would be open to doing films in Tamil, provided the role is good. The actress also said that she was not very keen on doing run-of-the-mill roles.
However, sources close to the unit confirmed that Swathy has a pivotal role of a village belle in the thriller. It is said that she chose the role only after reading the script and is said to have found potential in it. The buzz is that the film is set during the British Raj period and will be shot in Ladakh, Mumbai and Pune. There will be a second glamorous heroine in the film.
