The Performance
Srikanth as a memorable 100th film and he has given an excellent performance. Bhavani is a misfit in her role. Jyothy essayed her role well. Jayaprakash Reddy is his usual crooked best. Uttej, Paruchuri Venkateswara Rao and Jagan are apt in their roles. Charmee sizzles in the item song. Brahmanandam’s brief cameo is OK. All others are adequate.
The Techniques
Director Krishna Vamsi has come out with a good story and screenplay with dialogues having political overtones. This is not a mass entertainer but a neat take on non-violence. The cinematography is good and the music is above average. Audiography enhances the narration values.
The Verdict
Mahatma has to be seen for the nuances of Krishna Vamsi’s direction and Srikanth’s terrific performance, probably his best in his career.
