The PRP chief, K Chiranjeevi, had to deny such reports on several occasions. At one stage, the media speculated that the PRP legislators have advised Chiranjeevi to merge the party with the ruling Congress. When Eenadu carried a news about the thinking of a section of leaders in the party to merge it with the Congress, Chiranjeevi took strong objection and requested the media to restrain from planting damaging reports about the party.
For several weeks, particularly from the time of the death of Dr Rajasekhar Reddy, the PRP MLA Sobha Nagi Reddy has been moving close with the Congress legislators. She had even raised the demand in favour of Kadapa MP, Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, becoming the Chief Minister. She had made an appeal to the Congress high command to make Jagan as the Chief Minister. She had even attended the memorial meeting of Dr Rajasekhar Reddy, which was addressed by Jagan a few days ago.
Several of the Congress leaders, including Ministers, took objections to KCR’s remarks. As if the Congress strength was not sufficient, Sobha Nagi Reddy joined the team and found fault with KCR. She had tried to shield the Congress-led government, particularly the regime of Dr Rajasekhar Reddy.
Looking at all these, a basic question on the political affiliation of Sobha Nagi Reddy, is now doing rounds in Hyderabad. Politicians are asking journalists whether Sobha Nagi Reddy is in the PRP or Congress.
