The Kadapa MP, Y S Jaganmohan Reddy’s camp now has only two options before it. It is now clear that the party leadership is unwilling to change Rosaiah as Chief Minister. The popular demand in favour of Jagan had failed to convince the high command and Rosaiah will continue as the chief minister – succeeding Dr Y S Rajasekhar Reddy.
Under such conditions, one option before the Jagan’s camp is to take atleast the APCC president post and establish its supremacy across the State, prepare the rank and file for the 2014 elections. If the party wins in the 2014 elections, it can stake claim for Jagan to become Chief Minister.
The other option before him is to walk out of the Congress and form a regional party. This would mean a split in the MLAs and MPs belonging to the Congress from the State, who are loyal to Dr Y S Rajasekhar Reddy.
According to sources, the Jagan camp is in constant touch with the Nationalist Congress Party chief Sharad Pawar on engineering a split in the Congress in the State. It is to be seen how Jagan would act on this.
There is also a third option before Jagan. The MLAs and MPs, besides the leaders would have to wait in silence for the next four years, accepting the humiliation. Several of the leaders, including senior ministers from the Rosaiah’s cabinet, have openly asked for Jagan to be made as the next chief minister. As the high command is not prepared to make the young MP as the next CM, they have to accept the humiliation
