The Film
Ganesh…Just Ganesh is the story of a good Samaritan who entraps himself into a romantic tangle trying to help his friend.
The Synopsis
Ganesh (Ram) is an energetic young man working in hi-tech environment. He is decent and courageous and believes in helping people who are in need. His friend has a problem of getting married to his niece Divya (Kajal) as he is in love with another girl.
Ganesh plans to help his friend by making Divya fall in love with him making it easy for his friend to marry his lover. So he shifts his residence to his friend’s colony. Lots of kids in the apartments play pranks on all others and there is a goon Mahadev (Ashish Vidyarthi) to contend with.
Ganesh manages to make Vidya fall in love with him but she comes to know that it is just a façade of put-up play. The rest of the story deals with how he proves that his love for Divya is genuine.
The Performances
Ram gives an energetic display of emotions and appears to be maturing with every film. Kajal is her own self and essays her role well. Ashish Vidyarthi is the embodiment of a gangster. Kasi Viswanath is typecast for his character.
Brahmanandam looks less funny. Poonam Kour and Rohini Hattangadi are convincing. All others are adequate in their roles.
The Techniques
The theme and plot are not new but the treatment of the film suffers from a lack of depth. The meandering screenplay does not help in smooth transition of scenes. The kids-act appears to be over done. Music is just about average. Camera work and editing are good. Some more care could have been taken for sound design. Production values are good.
The Verdict
Ganesh…Just Ganesh is just another mass masala film with emphasis on songs and fights while weaving the thread of narration on a thin fabric of stale plot which is easily predictable.
