The two media barons are the happiest persons in the State following the death of their challenger, Dr Y S Rajasekhar Reddy. The Eenadu and Andhra Jyothi have waged a relentless political battle against Dr Rajasekhar Reddy all through his five years career as Chief Minister of the State. The two papers carried series of special reports against Dr Rajasekhar Reddy.
They have also carried a campaign against the Congress and Dr Rajasekhar Reddy in the 2009 elections. There were a number of pre-poll surveys, predictions against the Congress and Dr Rajasekhar Reddy. Eenadu carried photo features on its elections page exposing the failures of various government programmes. On his part, Dr Rajasekhar Reddy too took these two media houses seriously and tried to show them their place. In fact, the birth of Sakshi is one of the steps that Dr Rajasekhar Reddy had taken to counter the negative campaign by these two papers.
Now, as Dr Rajasekhar Reddy is no more, the two papers are backing the leadership of Chief Minister K Rosaiah. The number of interviews carried by these papers and the style of reports in favour of Rosaiah shows their backing for the senior leader. Interestingly, these two papers are also providing negative campaign for the pro-Jagan camp, by exposing the misdeeds of the Jagan yuvasena leaders. It is to be seen how long Rosaiah will get the support from these two papers, without the support from the Congress Legislature Party.
