The TTD Trust Board which met at Tirumala on Tuesday has taken a number of important decisions. It resolved to do away with VIP darshan in the evenings on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays in order to leave more time for the ordinary pilgrims who throng the temple during weekends.
It has not, however, taken any decision on the ‘blanket ban’ on ‘VIP break’. The Board itself was reportedly divided on the issue as the TTD cannot say ‘no’ when VIPs like judges, governors, Chief Ministers and Ministers visit the temple.
Further, it would mean curtailing the powers of even the Board chairman and the members of issuing VIP passes.
