Chiru receives a personal letter.

HYDERABAD: Praja Rajyam president K. Chiranjeevi on Thursday personally received a letter allotting the ‘,Sun’, as the symbol for the party, ahead of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) polls.
Talking to press persons after collecting the letter from State Election Commissioner A.V.S. Reddy in the afternoon, he said party leaders were gearing up cadres in all the divisions.Asked how he would go about strengthening the party’,s base in the GHMC limits, he said they were striving to convey the message of development to the people. Apart from the oft-repeated line of ‘,social justice and an improved society sans corruption’,, the focus would be on communicating the message that when elected to the GHMC, they would strive to ensure that civic amenities and infrastructure development were not neglected, he added.As for the budget session in the Assembly starting on Friday, he said party MLAs were prepared to highlight people’,s problems and initiate discussion in the House on burning issues plaguing the poor and the downtrodden. Among issues that the Praja Rajyam would raise was a discussion on the deteriorating quality of food served in schools as part of the midday meals programme.
He regretted that even an important programme aimed at increasing nutrition levels among children was being diluted by the powers-that-be.
Mr. Chiranjeevi said he was keen on proper implementation of welfare schemes and said ‘,he would not keep quiet if the allocation for continuing such schemes at the same pace was not made in the Budget’,.
