HYDERABAD: Apparently depressed over not getting admission into her desired branch at a university in Tamil Nadu, a second-year B Tech student allegedly jumped to death from her house in Kothapet here on Thursday, police said.

According to Saroornagar police, A Tejaswi (19), who was presently pursuing second-year engineering in Electronics and Communication (ECE) branch at a college here was 'unable' to get the admission in her desired branch at Shastra University of Tanjavur in Tamil Nadu.

When her parents were inside the house, Tejaswi went to the terrace of the fifth-floor of her apartment in Kothapet here this morning and jumped to death, they said.

"She seems to have been under depression for not getting admitted in her desired (ECE) branch at Shastra University and resorted to the extreme step this morning," an investigating officer said.

Police said they found a suicide note purportedly written by Tejaswi in Telugu, from her bedroom which stated "She did not like this life."
