A local court in Vijayawada granted permission to the police to add another case under Section 354 on the suspended ACA secretary, Mr Chamundeswarnath, in connection with the sexual abuse case filed by the Machavaram police recently.
A woman cricketer, Ms P. Durga Bhavani, had lodged a complaint accusing Mr Chamundeswarnath of mis-behaviour and abuse. Following an inquiry, officials confirmed his involvement in the case and asked the city police to add a non-bailable section, sources said.
Meanwhile, Justice G. Bhavani Prasad of the AP High Court on Wednesday dismissed a petition filed by Mr Chamundeswarnath seeking a direction to quash criminal proceedings against him in a lower court in Vijayawada.
