He waited for 17 years to take his revenge and when opportunity came by, he did not blink even for a second. The brutal killing of realtor, K Harinath Goud alias Kattala Raju, in broad daylight on July 18 at Saleemnagar Colony in Malakpet was a revenge killing, the police have said.
Raju was allegedly involved in the killing of Kotha Ganesh Goud, brother of gangster Kotha Das Goud. Ganesh Goud was killed at Malakpet in 1991. Raju, however, was acquitted in the case.
Ganesh Goud’s son Mahender Goud alias Mahesh alias Mahi was around seven when his father was killed. “Ganesh Goud’s family plunged into a financial crisis after his killing. Mahender’s mother used to frequently recall that their problems started with the killing of her husband and that influenced Mahender to take revenge against the killers of his father,” Task Force additional DCP M Ravindernath Babu said. Mahender, now 25 and resident of Chanchalguda, discussed his plans with five of his friends who agreed to help him.
Two of them, Banti and Sandeep alias Tinku, kept a close watch on the movements of Raju, a resident of Saroornagar.“Raju was a frequent visitor to the Hyderabad Race Club at Old Malakpet and Mahender selected an isolated locality to strike,” Ravindernath Babu said.
On July 18, Mahender along with his friends — Y Satish Reddy, G Ashok, A Ram Rathod and Sandeep (all residents of Chanchalguda and nearby localities) — waylaid Raju and attacked him with lethal weapons at Saleemnagar Colony and killed him.
Police arrested Mahender, Satish Reddy, Ashok and Ram Rathod and recovered the swords which were later thrown in a graveyard at Malakpet.
