Padma Shree Dr. Mohan Babu has successfully completed 35 years of his film career by 22nd, November, 2010. The actor made his screen presence in more than 510 films as a villain, comedian, character artist and hero. He crafted a niche for himself with his unique style of dialogue delivery and acting and was also honored him with titles ‘Nata Prapoorna’, ‘Dialogue King’ and ‘Collection King’.
He started his film career with the film titled ‘Kannavaari Kalalu’ in which he appeared in small role. Later, Veteran director, Dasari Narayana Rao has given him a full-fledged role in ‘Swargam Narakam’ in 1975. ‘Sivaranjani’, ‘Padahaarella Vayasu’, ‘Bommarillu’, ‘Sujatha’, ‘Sardhar Paaparayudu’, ‘Devatha’, ‘Gruha Pravesam’ were few films where he appeared as a negative lead and gained accolades.
The actor later turned as a hero and acted around 200 films as a male lead. ‘Alludugaru’, ‘Assembly Rowdy’, ‘Rowdy Gari Pellam’, ‘Allari Mogudu’, ‘Brahma’, ‘Peda Rayudu’ were few ever-green hits from him. Mohan Babu also turned as a producer by establishing a production house, ‘Sree Lakshmi Prasanna Pictures’ and had produced about 56 movies.
The actor also served the nation as a Member of Rajya Sabha from 1995 to 2001. He also established ‘Sree Vidyanikethan Educational Trust’ in 1992 which has International School, Degree College, Engineering College, Pharmacy College and College of Nursing. Recognizing his services, Mohan Babu was honored with prestigious Padma Shree award by the Government of India and was honored with a doctorate by University of California. Today, Mohan Babu is one actor who enjoys a premier position in Tollywood.
