Director Selva, who launched actors like Ajith and Thalai Vasal Vijay, steps into his silver jubilee year in filmmaking. For his 25th movie,”Naanga”, Selva has chosen a script that shifts continuously between 1985 and 2010. The film is set against a campus backdrop.
Selva introduces 13 newcomers as the lead actors in this romantic flick. All the nine heroes are the kids of film personalities including Telugu music director Vasu Rao’s son Munish, veteran actor Dayalan’s son Nivas, director Santhanabharathy’s son Sanjay, playback singer Mano’s son Sahir (villain), Vinodh, Vivek, Arun, Virumandi and Ashwin. Arasi, a medical student from Chennai, Shivani, Vishnupriya and Vaidhehi debut as the heroines. Actress Kasthuri plays an important role that Selva was unwilling to talk about.
Selva says that the script is the hero in Naanga and it needs freshers without any image trap. Balabharathy teams up with Selva after a long gap for the music composition.
