According to the realiable soruces Y S Rajasekhara Reddy had a pleading wife asking him not to take the helicopter in view of the bad weather.
YSR was to leave for Chittoor at 7:20 am last Wednesday but heavy rains delayed his chopper ride to 8:35 am. At that point, wife Vijayalakshmi asked Reddy to drop the idea. YSR told her that he would fly only if the pilot felt it was safe to do so. A laugh and the matter was over. YSR always had his way.
Aides, emerging from the mourning but feeling the loss of their friend and mentor, regret that YSR was not swayed by the scepticism at home.
The Andhra Pradesh chief minister took the chopper in what proved to be an ill-fated ride. He was caught in bad weather, the pilot took a detour and then had a suspected collision with a hill. "It's destiny.
