The Film

Rechipo is intended to be a mass masala film with the protagonist following the dictum of robbing Peter to pay Paul and getting into unintended tangles.

The Synopsis

Shiva (Nitin) is a robber with a heart for the poor people. He steals from the stinking rich to pay the struggling poor. He also falls in love with Krishna Veni (Ileana) who happens to be the daughter of the Home Minister.

Shiva comes to know that Rs 500 Cr is stacked away in the house of the Home Minister and he steals the money. The money actually belongs to a Dubai Don and he kidnaps Krishna Veni and demands the return of his booty. The rest of the story deals with how Shiva overcomes the underworld don and rescues Krishna Veni.

The Performances

Nitin looks just average because of the poorly etched character. Ileana completes the glamour quotient and has nothing much to do. Ahuthi Prasad and Bhanuchander appear helpless all the time. Even the comedy troupe fail to give any laughs. On the whole the actors seem to be just going through the motions in a listless manner.

The Techniques

Rechipo has a poor story line and the narration suffers from a very shoddy screenplay. The technical and production values are good but fail to impress because of the insipid narration style. Getting a don from Dubai or mentioning betting on cricket do not interest anyone particularly with the predictable events of the story and seen-it-somewhere type of scenes.

The Verdict

Rechipo is a colossal waste of valued resources and the entire film is an eye sore and a pain in the neck.
