The memorial meeting of Dr Y S Rajasekhar Reddy was a grand success, if one goes by the moods of the late leader’s family members. But, it is a failure for those who have been looking for some political statement from Kadapa MP, Y S Jaganmohan Reddy.
Jagan, who spoke for the first time in public after his father’s death, was cautious in his speech. Despite hundreds of people asking him, Jagan restrained from making any political statement. He restricted himself to thank the people who have been meeting him and his family members since the day of his father’s death. He also thanked those who have extended support to his family during the crisis.
Jagan set a two-point agenda for himself, if one goes by his speech at Nallakalava meeting. He said he would strive to work to complete the unfinished task of his father – irrigation projects and the health scheme (Rajiv Arogya Sri). He said he would do his part in completing these projects, particularly linking the two rivers of Krishna and Godavari.
Another issue that he would take up right now is to meet the family members of the persons who have either died of cardiac arrest or committed suicide after the death of his father, Dr Rajasekhar Reddy.
He did not leave any scope for the politicians or the media to speculate on his political moves. He appeared more cautious in his brief speech, though there was high tension debate over his prospects of becoming the Chief Minister.
It is to be seen what step he would take in the days to come, as he had completed the rituals and is now set to come out of his grief.
