The APCC chief, D Srinivas, who has been waiting for an opportunity to occupy the Chief Minister’s post for over a decade, received a jolt right from his son.
D Sanjay, son of the APCC chief, on Tuesday justified the public demand to make Y S Jaganmohan Reddy as the next Chief Minister. He further said Jagan has all the qualities to succeed Dr Rajasekhar Reddy.
Sanjay also recalled that Dr Rajasekhar Reddy had become the APCC chief in a much younger age. He brushed aside the objections like lack of experience for Jagan and said the experience leaders would stand by him to run the administration.
Sanjay’s remarks have almost closed the doors for DS to stake his claims for the top seat. DS aspired for the post in 2004 elections, but the AICC leadership had refused to give him the chance ignoring the sacrifice and hardwork done by Dr Rajasekhar Reddy.
Even in the 1999 elections too, besides DS, the then CLP leader, P Janardhana Reddy, have staked claims for the Chief Minister post. However, the party lost the elections and even PJR was defeated at Khairatabad. It was in this election, Dr Rajasekhar Reddy, became the CLP leader and thus laid the road to greater success in the subsequent elections.
